Rodney Alan Collier passed from this life peacefully at home on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 72. He was born on January 22, 1950, in McAlester, Oklahoma to Donald and Opal (Fulgham) Collier. He married the love of his life, Barbara Atherton on March 11, 1978, in Dallas, Texas.
Rodney was a hard worker who retired from Kroger where he worked for 35 years, he became a manager and retired at the age of 65. His favorite hobbies included fishing and playing golf. Rodney grew up in Durant and was a graduate of Durant High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. His happiest times were spent spending time with his family and getting to see the kids and grandkids grow up. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Left behind to cherish Rodney’s memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara, of the home. His two children son Alan Collier of Whitewright, Texas, and his daughter Whitney Sanchez and husband Marcos of Whitewright, Texas. Grandchildren include granddaughters Kaylee Rose, Kaitlyn Collier and his grandsons Austin Collier, Damian Sanchez, and Mason Sanchez. He is also survived by his two nieces Angie Styles and husband Mike of Cartwright, Oklahoma and Ladonne Bourbeau and husband Charlie of Caney, Oklahoma, along with numerous cousins.
Preceding Rodney in death are his parents Donald and Opal, and his sister Donell Miller.
Family hour will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 3-4:00pm at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 10:00am at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Collier, Damian Sanchez, Austin Collier, Marcos Sanchez, Charlie Bourbeau, Mike Styles, and Mason Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Staples, Richard Staples, and Bounce McFerran. Burial will immediately follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma.
