Janis Kathleen Harris

Janis Kathleen Harris of Durant passed peacefully at home on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the age of 71. She was born on May 5, 1952 to Everett and Goldea June (Duncan) Watson in Sherman, Texas. Janis married Ronald Harris on February 14, 1975 in Durant, Oklahoma.

With the love of helping people, Janis became a healthcare provider in a nursing home. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and talking with them on the phone to stay in touch. Janis was full of life and enjoyed fun activities such as playing dominoes, cooking, fishing, shopping, and going to garage sales. She enjoyed being pampered and getting her hair and nails done. Janis loved to go to the casino with Linda and Gayle as well. She enjoyed going to church and watching ministries on TV.

Janis is survived by her husband Ronald Harris of Durant, Oklahoma, her children Lisa Cheatle and husband Kenneth of Collinsville, Texas, Heather Butler and husband Derek of Pottsboro, Texas, Rhonda Cassell of Durant, Oklahoma, Lavonda Andrews and husband Mitchell of Durant, Oklahoma, Ronald “Jody” Harris, Jr. and wife Sharree of Mead, Oklahoma, and Michelle Marquardt and husband Stanley Joseph of Calera, Oklahoma, her daughter-in-law Trina Cook, her brother Wayne Watson and wife Sherry, sisters-in-law Mary Rodgers and husband Kenneth, Kay Macumber, and Anna Broader and husband Fred, and brother-in-law Roy Harris and wife Mary. Her legacy lives on with her grandchildren Haileigh Erives, Gregory Cheatle, Andrew Butler, Evan Butler, Jacob Brewer and wife Lillie, Austin Andrews, Connor Andrews, Marshall Harris, Alyrah Marquardt, Kya Marquardt, Ayden Marquardt, Chris Swindell and wife Amy, AJ Swindell and wife Alex, Tanner Harris and wife Rebecca, and Trent Harris and wife Lizzie. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents Everett and Goldea Watson, her son David Harris, and her grandchildren William and Cheyenne Harris.

Family Hour will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Silo Restland Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Ken Cheatle, Derek Butler, Jody Harris, Joe Marquardt, Jacob Brewer, and Mitchell Andrews.
