Evelyn Converse, a beautiful soul, loving wife, mother, and grandmother left this earthly life on June 26, 2021, at the age of 81. She was the cherished child of Fred Leonard Awtry and Eva Lee (Williams) Awtry Bolding born in Wichita Falls, Texas on August 16, 1939. Evelyn married her sweetheart Frank Converse, Sr. on February 4, 1960, in San Francisco, California.
Family night will be from 6-8:00 PM on Tuesday June 29th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday June 30th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Randy Mayfield officiating and Louis Bolding along with Tony Thomas assisting. She will be laid to rest at the Highland Cemetery in Durant with Collin Converse, Colton Converse, Jalen Dees, Eric Converse, Todd Converse, and Zack Harris as her pallbearers. Her honorary pallbearer will be Matt Converse.
Evelyn and her husband are current residents of Hugo, Oklahoma. They lived in Durant for many years before moving to Las Vegas where they spent over 20 years of their life and retired. After retiring they moved back home to Oklahoma. She joyfully dedicated her life to caring for her beloved family. Evelyn loved to serve others and could often be found helping in any way she could. She loved to read, especially romance novels. Evelyn had a great memory and would not forget a birthday. Through the years she enjoyed watching her boys and their children play sports.
Mrs. Converse is survived by her husband Frank Sr. of the home, sons, Frank Converse, Jr. of Utica, Oklahoma and Mike Converse and wife Tonya of Glover, Oklahoma, siblings, Leonard Awtry and wife Katy of Blossom, Texas, Barbara Hamill of Sumner, Texas, Bob Awtry of Hugo, Oklahoma and Louis Bolding and wife CJ of West Burlington, Iowa, grandchildren, Eric, Todd, Toni, Matt, Macy, Collin, Colton, and Darci, great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kylan, Ava, Ellie, Mackenzie, Hayden, Addisen, Layla, Aidan, Bella, Oliver, Otto, one on the way.
Mrs. Converse was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kenny Converse, sister, Linda Gills, stepfather, Louis A. Bolding, daughter-in-law, Sandy Converse, and Evelyn’s grandmother, (Granny Williams) Nettie Williams.
