Obituary

Don Lindon Herron, 92, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He was born August 25, 1930 to King David and Adde Belle (Mayhew) Herron.

He was a 1949 graduate of Durant High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He married the love of his life Sherry Edwards on October 2, 1951. Don was blessed with four children during his marriage. He was a very involved parent. He coached Little League Baseball five years and later became the Baseball Commissioner for Durant Little League. During this time Don served his country as a member of the Oklahoma National Guard for 9 years. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Durant for many years and served as the Noble Grand at one point.

Don loved Calvary Baptist Church and was a member for over 75 years. He served in many ways. He was Sunday School Superintendent, Royal Ambassador teacher, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and was a deacon. When the family grew, he continued to be involved in all his grandchildren’s lives. He loved them dearly and attended all of their activities and taught them by example to be kind, considerate, courteous, and to love Jesus.

He is survived by his wife Sherry Edwards Herron, three sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Suzie Herron, David and Marcie Herron, and Tracy and Debbie Herron, grandchildren Taylor Herron, Leigha Herron Myers, Kayla Herron Mann, Trevor Herron, Cole Herron, Tori Howard, Tamra Stone, Chad Bullard, Blake Bullard, Emma Smith, and Melanie Henry.
