Albert Reynolds, 87, a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on January 23, 2021 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Durant, Oklahoma. He was born June 25, 1933 in Cobb, Oklahoma to Luther and Mary Reynolds.
He lived and worked on the family farm until the age of 16. He attended Cobb High School and furthered his education at Dallas business school. He began his long and ambitious career by moving to Flint, Michigan where he worked at various jobs.
During that time, he met, fell in love and married Carolyn Louise Eubanks. Children soon followed. From there he moved the family to Lufkin, Texas and later to Houston where he worked for Mrs. Baird's Bread. Wanting more he moved back to Michigan to work for General Motors. Realizing the needs of a large family he pursued a second job in the plumbing business. Albert was a natural at plumbing, so he left GM and started Reynolds Plumbing. Soon to follow was Wonderland Development which provided him the stability to move and work wherever he chose. His dream was to move home and in 1973 he moved the family back to Durant, Oklahoma.
During the past 48 years his list of accomplishments include: cattle ranching, several residential developments, a plumbing business, commercial construction, residential construction, a fertilizer business, a new tractor sales and service business, convenient stores, several apartment complexes, GM dealer for 30 years, Chrysler dealer for 20 years, a concrete business, commercial office/retail centers, a Golf Course business and a hotel business.
In his spare time, he was active in Booster Club, Bryan County Homebuilders Association, Little Dixie Shrine Club, the Masons and First Baptist Church of Durant. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan and season ticket holder for years.
Albert loved hunting, fishing, motor homing and weekend family gatherings. Albert was active in the family business until his last day on earth. Of all of his achievements, he loved and valued his family the most. A husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his legacy continues.
Mr. Reynold is survived by his children, Terry Reynolds and wife Stormy of Durant, Oklahoma, Cathy Bright and husband Dwaine of Rockwall, Texas, Steve Reynolds of Durant, Oklahoma, Lane Hollis and husband Joe of Fernandian Beach, Florida, David Reynolds and wife Donna of Durant, Oklahoma, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Don Moore of Durant, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law, Cora Reynolds of Durant, Oklahoma.
Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mary Reynolds, wife, Carolyn, son, Dennis Michael Reynolds, and twin daughters, Linda and Brenda Reynolds.
The Reynolds family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living Center, Beth Henson and her wonderful staff. Family hour will be from 6-7:00 PM on Tuesday January 26th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday January 27th at the 1st Baptist Church in Durant with Pastor Gary McNeil officiating. His final resting place will be the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera with Jeremy Reynolds, Aaron Sheffield, Matt Reynolds, Ryan Reynolds, Tra Williams, and Carl Reese as his pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Keith Stanford, Elvin McAdams, and Ferrell Hankey. The service will be available for viewing via live stream from the funeral home FB page at the time of the service.
